  17. What is InfoMap Lite?
  18. --------------------
  19. InfoMap Lite is a productivity tool for Windows(TM) 3.0/3.1 that brings the
  20. power of 'mind maps'(TM) to the graphical PC environment. Introduced in the
  21. 1970's by Tony Buzan, the mind map has become widespread in its use for
  22. brainstorming, idea creation, document planning and note taking.
  23.  
  24. InfoMap Lite extends the utility of the mind map by combining with it the
  25. graphical PC interface to produce a tool which helps you collect, visualise,
  26. organise and present information. It will give you added control and visibility
  27. over projects, meetings, ideas, action plans, to-do lists, and many other
  28. things in a flexible, intuitive and productive manner.

  30. Some features and benefits which InfoMap Lite offers are the following:

  32. - An efficient, time-saving method of data entry based upon proven business
  33.   methods.
  34. - Automatic layout changes according to changing map topology fully overcomes
  35.   the layout problems associated with hand-drawn mind maps (no more squeezing
  36.   new arcs into a small corner of the page!).
  37. - Easy re-arrangement of maps by intuitive mouse-driven drag & drop, or by
  38.   minimal keyboard strokes, makes InfoMap Lite a flexible tool for managing
  39.   and experimenting with different ideas and information relationships.
  40. - Visual enhancement of maps via user-defined style sheets enables selected 
  41.   information to be distinguished, or relationships highlighted.
  42. - Outlining and scaling facilities make InfoMap Lite into an effective
  43.   presentation tool, allowing you to hide or expose just the amount of detail
  44.   you wish to see.
  45. - Using its built-in text editor, InfoMap Lite allows you to add and maintain
  46.   notes to each branch of a mind map.
  47. - The comprehensive printing abilities of InfoMap Lite allow you to produce
  48.   finished documents containing all or selected parts of your maps, in both
  49.   graphical and/or textual form. Portable PC users could, for instance, record
  50.   notes in a meeting, quickly organise them and produce a completed meeting
  51.   report before leaving the meeting!
  52. - By using map navigation and map linking facilities, you can build and manage
  53.   large mind maps, or split them in a modular way without losing their
  54.   relationships.

  56. Limited License
  57. ---------------
  58. InfoMap Lite is not free.  It is distributed as Shareware. This means you have
  59. the opportunity to freely evaluate InfoMap Lite at your leisure for a period
  60. not exceeding fourteen days. If, after that time, you find InfoMap Lite
  61. useful, you are obligated to purchase a license for its continued use. If you
  62. do not find InfoMap Lite useful, or you do not register it within fourteen
  63. days, you must discontinue its use.

  65. How to register InfoMap Lite
  66. ----------------------------
  67. A license for the use of InfoMap Lite can be obtained by filling out the
  68. Registration Application Form found in the file ORDERFRM.WRI. Registration
  69. entitles you to a diskette of the latest version of InfoMap Lite together
  70. with your personal registration details (which will eliminate the
  71. registration reminder screens), technical support via telefax or EMail, and
  72. free access (via bulletin boards, conference systems, etc.) to any later 1.xx
  73. versions that may be published from time to time.

  75. Please refer to the ORDERFRM.WRI file (once you have installed InfoMap Lite)
  76. for details on registration costs and procedures.

  78. Notes for Registered Users
  79. --------------------------
  80. Licenses already granted to registered users of InfoMap Lite are automatically
  81. transferred to InfoMap Lite Version 1.40 without further charge. Should you
  82. wish to use version 1.40, you should discontinue use of any older version. The
  83. personal registration details already provided to you can be used with version
  84. 1.40 of InfoMap Lite without change.

  86. To upgrade to version 1.40, simply install it by following the instructions
  87. given below. Any mind map files you have already created will be kept intact.
  88. They are fully compatible with this version of InfoMap Lite.
  89.  
  90. The new facilities offered by version 1.40 are summarised in the accompanying
  91. file HISTORY.TXT, and covered comprehensively by the online help. Should you
  92. wish, however, to obtain an update of this version on diskette please refer to
  93. the file UPGRADE.WRI. There is a small charge to cover the diskette and
  94. handling costs.

  98. InfoMap Lite is supplied as is. CoCo Systems Ltd. disclaims all warranties,
  99. expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of
  100. merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. CoCo Systems Ltd. assumes no
  101. liability for damages, direct or consequential, which may result from the use
  102. of InfoMap Lite.

  104. Installation of InfoMap Lite
  105. ----------------------------
  106. The InfoMap Lite distribution media should contain the following files:

  110. SETUP.INS    -  Setup support file
  111. SETUP.LGO    -  Setup support file

  117. To install InfoMap Lite, simply run SETUP.EXE and follow the onscreen
  118. instructions. If you are running the Windows Program Manager, Setup will give
  119. you the option of creating a program manager group. You will then be able to
  120. start InfoMap Lite by double-clicking the InfoMap Lite icon. If you choose not
  121. to create a program manager group, run InfoMap Lite by opening the file
  122. manager and then double-clicking on IMLITE.EXE in the InfoMap Lite directory.

  124. Quick Start
  125. -----------
  126. Once you are running InfoMap Lite, please refer to InfoMap Lite's
  127. comprehensive online help for full details on its use. To access the InfoMap
  128. Lite online help simply press the F1 key.  You might like to print each of the
  129. help topics found under 'Procedures': they will give a thorough introduction
  130. on the use of InfoMap Lite.

  132. When InfoMap Lite first loads, you will see an example map which gives a brief
  133. overview of InfoMap Lite's main features. To print this map, simply press the
  134. F9 function key, or click on the printer button on the tool bar.

  136. Uninstalling InfoMap Lite
  137. -------------------------
  138. If, having installed InfoMap Lite, you wish for any reason to remove it from
  139. your hard disk you should run the supplied Setup program (SETUP.EXE)
  140. again, and select the Un-Install option from the main menu. SETUP.EXE can
  141. be found on the InfoMap Lite distribution media (it is *not* installed into
  142. the InfoMap Lite directory).

  144. About the Retail Version of InfoMap
  145. -----------------------------------
  146.  
  147. InfoMap Lite is intended to provide PC-based mind mapping for the individual
  148. user. Additional facilities are provided for corporate or other more demanding
  149. users by the full retail version of InfoMap. For a description of these
  150. additional facilities and how to upgrade to the full product, please
  151. refer to the online help topic 'About the Retail Version of InfoMap' (this can
  152. be found via the InfoMap Lite help system's main contents topic).
